Olivia Rodrigo Ticks her Third Number-One Entry on the UK Official Singles Chart with "Vampire"
American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo nets her third UK number one on the Official Singles Chart with "Vampire" which rises from #3 in its ninth week to replace Dua Lipa's "Dance the Night Away" (which slopes to #15) for the week 1 September 2023 - 7 September 2023. Released June 30, 2023, the pop rock song taken from her upcoming album, GUTS, has been a commercial success having debuted at No.1 on the US Billboard 200 list, as well as the equivalent Canadian chart. The track was a #1 success in Australia, Ireland, Israel, and New Zealand, while joining her previous chart toppers "driver's license" and "good 4 u " (both in 2021) from the singer's critically acclaimed debut set SOUR.
To reiterate the rockstar's streak of UK popular entries, we start with the very recent "bad idea right" (2023) with three weeks so far, and a peak of No.6, "traitor" (#5, 2021), and "deja vu" (#4, 2021). Her sophomore album, GUTS, is slated for a September 8, 2023 release under Geffen Records.
Back on the Official Singles Chart this week, Doja Cat manages to secure her a No.2 chart rank ever with "Paint the Town Red" hitting the runner-up spot with 4 weeks on the run, matching her entry with "Say So" (2020). This is followed by her own No.3 peaking "Kiss Me More" (feat. SZA) (2021).
Past the top-ten this week, Miley Cyrus banks the week's highest new entry with "Used to Be Young" at No. 12, the singer's 35th entry on the list, supplementing her three UK number ones and two UK number-one albums. Selena Gomez joins in with her latest entry on the list as well, with "Single Soon" which debuts at No.21, marking her 30th entry on the list.
