Nigerian Singer Burna Boy Collects his First-Ever Number-One Album in the UK
Nigerian super-star Burna Boy gets his grand UK achievement as the singer's seventh studio album, I Told Them... debuts atop the UK Official Album Chart for the week 1 September 2023 - 7 September 2023, besting Claire Richard's Euphoria at No.2. The album was released on August 25, 2023 via Bad Habit, Spaceship and Atlantic Records. I Told Them marks Burna's best charting effort in the UK surpassing his previous album, Love, Damini (2022) which peaked at No.2 there, while reaching No.6 in Canada and No.3 in Nigeria, still topping the UK R&B Albums list.
Twice as Tall (2020) managed to peak t No.11 in the UK, missing out on the top-ten, while African Giant (2019) peaked at No.16, which marked the Afro-fusion star's first internationally charting record.
On the singles front, Burna Boy was featured on Ed Sheeran's UK number-one score "Own It" (featuring Stormzy) (2020), which counts as the singer's highest feature on the chart, along with "Location" (with Dave) (#6, 2019), "Be Honest" (with Jorja Smith) (#6, 2019), "Play Play" (with J Hus) (#11, 2020), "Be My Hand" (feat. Ed Sheeran) (#18, 2022) and "Last Last" (#4, 2022), among others.
