Kylie Minogue Garners her 9th Number one the UK Official Albums Chart
Tension, is the sixteenth studio album by the Australian mega singer, Kylie Minogue, released September 22, 2023, via BMG, a follow-up to 2020's Disco. Tension debuted at number one in Australia as well as the United Kingdom. The set marks her ninth number-one score in the UK and her eighth overall in her native land. Also debuting atop the Irish and Scottish Albums charts, the set opened at number one on the UK Independent Albums (OCC) for the initial week of its turn up. The album features the singles "Padam Padam" (a top 10 score on the UK Singles list) and "Tension".
To sum up the songstress' major number ones, her debut album, Kylie, released in 1988 went to number one in the UK and peaked at No.2 in Australia, the follow-up, Enjoy Yourself (1989) also reached #1 in the UK while reaching #9 in Australia. Rhythm of Love (1990) went to N0.10 in her native country and peaked at #9 in the UK. Her 4th album, Let's Get to It (1991), missed the top-ten peaking at #13 in Australia and #15 in the UK, Kylie Minogue (1994) peaked at #3 in Australia and #4 in the UK. She returned with Impossible Princess in 1997 reaching #3 in Australia and No.5 in the UK. Light Years, released in 2000 marked her return to number one in Australia while reaching #2 in the UK. Fever (2001) was also successful , peaking at No.1 both in the UK and Australia and earning the singer her best in the US market where it peaked at No.3 on the Billboard 200 list. The 9th album, Body Language (2003), went to #2 in Australia and reached #6 in the UK, its follow up, X (2007) peaked atop the ARIA Albums chart while hitting No.4 in the UK. Aphrodite (2010) saw Kylie return to number-one in the UK (her fifth number-one there), while reaching No.2 in Australia. Kiss Me Once (2014) was a number-one success in Australia, reaching No.2 in the UK, Kylie Christmas (2015), her first Xmas album, went to #7 in Australia and peaked at #12 in the UK. Golden (her 14th album) was released in 2018 and had such great chart success going to number 0ne on Australia, as well as the UK, 2020's Disco was yet another success peaking atop the same charts.
