Autumn Variations : Ed Sheeran

 

Autumn Variations is the seventh studio album by English singer, Ed Sheeran, released via his record label Gingerbread Man, on September 29, 2023, four months after his sixth album - (subtract, 2023) was released. The record is majorly produced by Aaron Dessner, alongside Bryce Dessner. The lead single "American Town" (co-written with Foy Vance) along with the album making its debut at #89 on the ARIA Singles list, #46 in Ireland and #27 in the UK. 

  The album made its international debut at No.1 in Australia, marking Sheeran's 7th chart topper there. It has thus far peaked at No.4 in Canada, marking his third album there to miss the  top spot. In Ireland, it debuted at No.2, marking his first album altogether to miss the number-one mark, kept off the by the reign of Olivia Rodrigo's GUTS. Similar to Ireland, it debuted at number two in Scotland missing the spot thanks to Stephen Wilson's Harmony Cordex (his first number-one score there besting his 2017's To The Bone which peaked at number two). In the United Kingdom, Autumn Variations went straight to number-one, earning the singer his seventh consecutive number-one peak there, while also hitting #1 on the equivalent UK Independent Albums (OCC). Crossing to the US, the set settled in at No.4, becoming the singer's seventh top-five entry on the Billboard 200. Sheeran has previously reached number-one in the US with the albums x (2014), ÷ (2017), No.6 Collaborations Project (2019) and = (2021), while − (2023) peaked at No.2 and his debut set + (2011) reached No.5. Sheeran boasts two number-one songs on the Billboard Hot 100 record chart with "Perfect" and "Shape of You". 

Elsewhere the album reached No.1 in Austria, No.2 in Belgium, No.1 in Germany and Denmark, No.5 in France, No.3 in Norway, and No.1 on the US Folk Albums (Billboard).
