Van Halen: A Musical Legacy

 

   

Following the death of Van Halen member, Eddie Van Halen, who was the main songwriter and lead guitarist of the rock band, and he passed away on Oct. 06, 2020 at the age of 65, we revisit the band's timeless influence on music itself. 

   The American rock band was formed in Pasadena, California, in 1972. From 1974 until 1985, Van Halen consisted of Eddie Van Halen; Eddie's brother, drummer Alex Van Halen; vocalist David Lee Roth; and bassist Michael Anthony 

   Their discography comprises of 12 studio albums with the first being Van Halen (1978), a No.19 peak in the U.S., its follow-up Van Halen II (1979) peakes at No.6 on Billboard 200, and the next four albums reached the top-6 rank in the U.S. Their seventh studio album, 5150 (1986) became their first to hit the number-one mark on the Billboard 200 charts, their next OU812 (1988) marked their second visit at the top of Billboard 200 charts. 

   For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge became their third number-one on the Billboard 200 just as it follow-up, Balance (1995) reachd the chart's summit. Valen Halen III (1998) peaked at No.4 highwhile their final studio album, A Different Kind of Truth (2012) managed to reach a No.2 high on the Billboard 200 chart. 

   The band released two live albums, Live: Right Here, Right Now (1993), a No.5 peak in the U.S. and also Tokyo Dome Live in Concert, peaking at #20 in the US. They also had two compilations: the U.S. number-one score Best of - Volume One (1996) (also a number-one in Canada) and the U.S. No.3 peaking The Best of Both Worlds (2004), which hit No.2 in Canada. 

  The band is notably remembered for their hit single, "Jump" released in December 1983, becmoming their most successful single to date, reaching the No.1 spot on Billboard's Hot 100, No.2 in Australia and Ireland, No.1 in Canada and Italy, while reaching a No.7 peak on the UK Singles Chart.
