Noah Kahan Scores 2024's first #1 single on the UK Official Singles chart with "Stick Season"

American singer-songwriter Noah Kahan reaps big as the year begins with his single "Stick Season" finally hitting number on the UK Official Singles list (5 January 2024 - 11 January 2024), with 14 weeks on the run. The song already his only top-ten effort therein marks the singer's first chart topper in the UK.  It was released July 8, 2022 via Mercury Records & Republic Records, as the lead single off his third studio album also titled Stick Season. The single has thus far reached No.1 in Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands, while reaching No.6 in Australia, No.15 in Canada, No.36 on the Global 200 (Billboard), No.31 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No.3 on the US Hot Rock & Alternative Songs (Billboard). Kahan wrote the song himself. The parent album was released October 14, 2022 - reaching No.2 in Canada, No.3 in the US, and No.5 in the UK, while hitting No.1 in Ireland, as well as the UK Americana Albums (OCC), US Top Alternative Albums (Billboard) and US Top Rock Albums (Billboard). The album peaked at No.13 in Australia.

"Stick Season" is by far Kahan's 7th entry on the UK Singles entry. Other songs off the album to chart in the UK are "Northern Attitude" (No.16), "She Calls Me Back" (No.95), "Everywhere Everything" (No.72), "Dial Drunk" (No.32), "Call Your Mom" (No.83) and "You're Gonna Go Far" (No.65).

Back on the chart run for the week, following the retreat of Xmas songs, the list features a number of re-entries and resurges with the highest re-entry being Sophie Ellis-Bextor's "Murder on the Dancefloor" (released in 2001, having peaked at No.2 on the chart), returning at No.8 due to its use in the film Saltburn

The newest entry therein this week at No,40 is "Perfect (Exceeder)" by Mason & Princess Superstar. Flo Milli's "Never Lose Me" enters the list at No.63, marking the American rapper's foremost entry on the chart. Travis Scott adds his 49th entry on the official chart with "My Eyes" at No.71. The classic "Take on Me" (A-ha) re-enters the list at No.75, it notably peaked at No.2 back at the time of its release. The only holiday song to feature on the chart this week is Sam Ryder's No.2 best "You're Christmas To Me" (dropping to No. 85 in its 8th week).

On the UK Albums front this week, Lewis Capaldi's Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent catapults its way back to No.1 (from #72) in its 33rd week. It storms ahead of Taylor Swift's 1989 (Taylor's Version) holding at No.2 (also a former No.1 score). The list features no new album entry.

For the week 12 January 2024 - 18 January 2024, "Stick Season" stayed at number one for a second consecutive week, ahead of Sophie Ellis-Bextor's "Murder on the Dancefloor" at No.2. Teddy Swim's "Lose Control" entered the top-ten tier upping from #14 to No.6 in its 10 week on the chart, earning the singer a new feat.
