Hardy's second studio album – the mockingbird & THE CROW was released January 20, 2023, via Big Loud Records. The album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart (dated 02.04.23), marking the country singer's highest charting effort therein and first top 10 album, following his 2020's A Rock (which peaked at No.24 on the Billboard 200, however reached No.4 on the US Top Country Albums (Billboard) as well as US Independent Albums (Billboard). 

the mockingbird was the second highest debut of the week on the Billboard 200 list just behind Trippie Redd's Mansion Musik. The set was a number one success on the charts : US Independent Albums (Billboard), US Top Country Albums (Billboard), US Top Hard Rock Albums (Billboard) and the US Top Rock Albums (Billboard). In its second week, the album moved to No.11, to No.15 in the 3rd week, No.29 the week after, spending 29 weeks on the run as of this date. In Canada, the album peaked at No.6 as well on the Australian Country Albums (ARIA) chart. Billboard ranked the album at No.61 at the 2023 year-end list, while at No.8 on the US Top Country Albums.
