SZA scores her first-ever No.1 entry on the US Billboard Hot 100
American singer/song-writer, SZA (Solane Imani Rowe) finally checks the score evenly as she achieves her own number-one track on the US Billboard Hot 100 record chart as her single "Kill Bill" soars to the top of the list unseating Morgan Wallen's "Last Night", thus becoming the 1,149th number-one song on the chart (on the issue dated April 29, 2023)
The track released Jan. 10, 2023, via Top Dawg and RCA, as the 5th single from her second studio album, SOS, which went to number-one on the Billboard 200 list for 10 weeks straight, banked eight weeks at No.2 while being held off on occasion. The song takes the name from the Quentin Tarantino film Kill Bill about a bride on a revenge mission to kill, basically. The single managed to peak atop the Hot 100 chart following its remix featuring Doja Cat. The two had formerly collaborated on Doja's own "Kiss Me More" reaching No.3 on the Hot 10o.
On US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, "Kill Bill" broke the record for the longest time a female lead artist spent on top, with 17 weeks. It became SZA's first top 10 solo song in the United Kingdom at the beginning of 2023, once December ended and Christmas songs began leaving the chart, where it peaked at No.3 as well as in Canada. Furthermore, it was a number-one score on the ARIA Singles Chart in Australia, her first chart-topping song there.
