Best Albums of June 2020

 


Mid-2020 was fair it terms of music output and below is a rundown of the releases that got us holding up the love for music.

1.   Bigger Love: For such a gloomy period in the year, we could never have asked for more than the 7th studio album from John Legend, which dropped June 19, via Columbia Records. It includes the Officio 100 top-ten peaks, “Bigger Love” (#3), “Conversations in the Dark” (#9) and “Never Break”. The album hit #1 on the UK R&B Albums chart while reaching No.19 on the US Billboard 200 charts.

2.  Goldmine : Gabby Barrett is no doubt the Officio Country female star of the year, and the singer’s debut album arrived on June 19, via Warner Nashville. The set debuted at No.4 on the US Top Country Albums chart, while breaking the record for the largest streaming week ever for a debut country album by a female artist. It charted at No.27 on the Billboard 200 list and spawned her best single of all time “I Hope”, which rose to No.3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with Charlie Puth credited, and topping our Officio 100 chart.

3. Ungodly Hour: American R&B duo Chloe x Halle delivered their sophomore set on June 12, via Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records, featuring their most successful song “Do It”. The album debuted at #16 on the Billboard 200 chart.

4. Translation: the eighth studio album by American group Black Eyed Peas, came on June 19, through Epic Records. It peaked at #52 in the US, #8 in Italy and in Canada.

5. Women in Music Pt. III: American band, HAIM, had their third studio set released on June 26 via Polydor Records, peaking at No.1 in the UK, while reaching No.2 in Scotland, No.5 in Ireland, No.7 in Australia and #13 in the US.

6. The Godfather III: English rapper Wiley’s 13th studio album was released June 5, and peaked at No.3 on the UK Albums chart.

7. Don Dada: Yungen Ace’s album was released on June 26 via Cinematic Music Group.

8. Upside Down 2020: Buju Banton’s 13th studio album, released on June 26, via Roc Nation.

ß        Punisher : Phoebe Bridges [Alternative] – sophomore album by the American singer, peaked at #6 in the UK, #3 in Scotland and #12 in Australia.

ß        Rage & Sorrow : BRELAND [Country,Trap] – the EP was released on June 19

ß        THE ALBUM : Teyana Taylor [R&B] – the third studio album  by the singer, arrived June 19, and debuted at No.8 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

ß        City on Lock : City Girls [Rap] – the sophomore album by the hip hop duo, reached #29 in the US

ß        Pain IS Temporary : Bankrol Hayden [Rap] – released June 26

ß        Everything’s Strange Here: G-Eazy [Rap] – the fifth studio album by the rapper, out June 26 via RCA Records.
